September 2008-The Hills in Bloom
This shot was taken up in the mountains as the Luing heather was in full flower, I stalked a group of six grouse a short distance over the moorland. I particularly liked this shot as one of the hen birds turned side on, posing for the camera.
August 2008-Fishing Osprey
I took this photograph at the Rothiemurchus Fish Farm earlier this month on a photography workshop with Keith Collins who works on the estate. The morning started at 5:30 am and went on until 9 am, during that time I was lucky enough to capture this image of a fishing osprey catching a rainbow trout.
July 2008-Tanzanian Dawn
I took this photograph whilst on a school trip to Tanzania, I crept out of my tent at about half past five on this morning and walked down to the beach to take some photos. I particularly liked the deep blue glow produced before the sun rose, I feel the picture is completed by the man standing down on the shore front.
June 2008-Gannet.
I was lucky enough to go on a photography trip to the bass rock earlier in the month. It was an incredible experience and I feel very priveledged to have had the opportunity to see and photograph the islands gannets.
May 2008-Ptarmigan at sunset.
This was taken in the hills at sunset one evening, I'd spent the day looking for golden plover and came across this ptarmigan just as the sun was setting.
April 2008-Red Kite
I recently photographed some Red Kite in the south of Scotland whilst on a family holiday. In this photograph the kite quickly banked to the right during a heavy shower of rain.
March 2008- Male Ptarmigan
A male Ptarmigan during a winter storm. With gusts of well over 60mph the snow was flying past us horizontally. Although we were getting blown about in the gale force winds we braved the elements and managed to find some Ptarmigan, this shot was taken just before a full blown blizzard engulfed the mountain.
February 2008-Mountain Hare
During the winter months I spend a large amount of time in the mountains, trying to photograph upland wildlife in their snowy surroundings. This particular day was glorious, not a cloud in the sky. Although the mountain was covered in snow. Mountain Hare's are one of only two mammals found in the UK that moult into a white winter coat, this makes them more difficult to find, but if you do manage to get close to one their coat really enhances the photographs
January 2008-Red Squirrel in love.
This shot was taken at a local woodland feeding station, there were four or five squirrels using the feeders and so I put myself in the right position and waited. I photographed them for most of the day, my favourite shot was this particularly dark red squirrel standing on a love heart.
